The Caribbean Science Foundation announced today that it has received a record number of SPISE 2017 applications from Jamaica. Of the 58 applications received, 16 were from Jamaican students (28% of the entire pool). Campion College is responsible for 10 of the 16 Jamaican applicants, and most of them include MIT and Stanford among the universities that they hope to attend to pursue majors in science or engineering.

The next highest number is from Barbados with 7 applicants (5 from Queens College, and 1 each from the Foundation school and the Barbados Community College). Belize and St. Lucia had 6 applicants each, followed by Trinidad and Tobago with 5 applicants. Typically, the acceptance rate for SPISE in the past three years has varied between 1 in 3 and 1 in 4.
